Weather Words
Mrs. Maxon's first grade class has been studying weather. Students incorporated important science vocabulary into a Web 2.0 site. Students used the website Tagxedo, which turns words into a visually appealing word cloud. Students were able to independently enter their words and change the font and layout. There are many shapes but for this activity students could chose from weather pictures such as a snowflake, lightning, cloud, or rain drop. Way to go Mrs. Maxon's Movie Stars!

Library Lemonade Lesson
This week in the library, Ms. Smith worked with Kindergarten, 1st grade and 2nd grade classes on a captivating lesson. She read the book Lemonade in Winter, which is a story about two kids counting money. After her theatrical reading, students discussed money concepts. This included identifying coins that the characters used in the story, identifying coin values, and counting a collection of coins. Ms. Smith used the interactive SMART board to engage students in counting coins on the website www.sheppardsoftware.com . It was fun and challenging all at the same time!
